Maybe as a reward for getting your pages done for the day/week, you can write some ideas down in separate files. I believe Stephen King calls these new story ideas begging to be played with "the little green truck."Mo Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13644902211036445323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18101458.post-58140876074475798332008-01-17T22:40:00.000-06:002008-01-17T22:40:00.000-06:00I am a pantser, but I think this idea of guideline...I am a pantser, but I think this idea of guidelines could really help me out! For me it would be more like an outline of possibilities. It would help when my characters get unruly and try to run away with things. I have done that sort of thing with minor characters who scream for their own books as well, Diane. From my novel Lost in Love I have three minor characters screaming "Me next! Me next! Me next!" And over in a corner is a family whose eccentric relative plays a role in the book and now THEY want their own stories too. My nice little cast of characters have turned into a torch and pitchfork bearing mob! This guidelines post came just in the nick of time!dogladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03392561174583932552noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18101458.post-70515094397418800992008-01-17T16:11:00.000-06:002008-01-17T16:11:00.000-06:00Well, Gillian, sometimes the business works that w...Well, Gillian, sometimes the business works that way. And the important thing to remember is that everyone's writing process is different, and that's okay! :)Mo Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13644902211036445323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18101458.post-50556259094277589742008-01-17T16:09:00.000-06:002008-01-17T16:09:00.000-06:00Diane,I like your idea of making up your own guide...Diane,
I like your idea of making up your own guidelines. I'm going to make some up for the next novel. I've been stuck. If you are asked to make up a story about a girl in a red dress, it becomes easier, and if you are asked to make up a story about a girl in a red dress sitting in a barn, the story ideas come even faster.

Sometimes I make up my own guidelines. That is, I decide to make a minor character from one book into the hero or heroine of the next book. I love doing this because the ideas come so much easier when I know who the story is about.Diane Gastonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14770373530197339170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18101458.post-69838019499302672142008-01-17T13:56:00.000-06:002008-01-17T13:56:00.000-06:00I can't imagine anything hindering you, Esri! :)I can't imagine anything hindering you, Esri! :)Mo Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13644902211036445323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18101458.post-35159590226818557062008-01-17T11:29:00.000-06:002008-01-17T11:29:00.000-06:00Really valuable info!
