Q&A

January and our month devoted to the Wet Noodle Posse motto "Be good to yourself--Or Else" is ending, but that doesn't mean you can't be good to yourself for the rest of 2009.

How have you been good to yourself this month? How will you keep it up through the rest of this year?

I think that's the big challenge for everyone -- to keep up beginning-of-the-year good habits beyond January. Actually, it's much easier for me to be good to myself as spring arrives because I can get outside and exercise, work in the yard, just enjoy the sunshine.

Trish,
Me, too! I feel like exercising more and eating healthier when spring arrives.

I'm all for spring coming sooner to enjoy the outdoors. I definitely take more breaks to walk then.

Spring is the best! Every year there are tons of people in the gym for the first two weeks of January and then they slowly disappear...one by one. My sister works out with me, so we keep each other going...

It has been a great month! Maybe February will be even better!!

I love spring in the Northwest, although it usually means putting up with a lot of rain. But we have such a profusion of flowering plants and fairly mild weather, and spring lasts so long, it's very uplifting. That really makes it easier to feel energetic.

I have two major tasks, the same ones that are always my major struggle: self-discipline and organization. I know the better I manage these two things, the better overall my life is, and the more I have to contribute to life.

We just had our first snowfall of the year, nothing big. We haven't had a big one in years! (I should be careful what I say....)

I've pretty much stuck to my diet and lost 5 lbs so far. I'm not even to where I was last summer, though. Gotta keep this up.

My visits to Curves have been interrupted by the Inauguration activities and the snow. Next week I'll get back.

Despite weather issues, this has been a good month. I finished my revision, started a new course (April Kihlstrom's BIAW), and gave myself permission to chillax, be with my friends, hang out, eat lunch, play, and shop. I did a lot this week despite starting the course, knowing I'd really catch up next week. And I am so glad I did. It feeds my mind, readies me to write again.

I exercise, walk when it is sunny even if cold, and try to eat right. I wish the weight showed the effort, but spring will help I am sure!

Ready to write a new book, and ready for spring!!

I've started walking and taking some time for me. I'm hoping this will help stress. :)

I've gotten some stuff done this month. Actually just put something in the mail yesterday.

I'm looking forward to spring, too. I'm so nervous walking outside when there's ice and snow around! But this month I've started eating much healthier, and I've cleared off the treadmill and I've thought deeply about actually getting on it. That, I guess, will have to be my task for February :)

I am walking almost every day; it would be a pity to waste all this gorgeous weather.

And I have my favorite chocolate available. Interestingly enough, it's easier for me to limit my chocolate when it's what I really want instead of what I'm settling for.

I've followed the advice to live with my characters in my head, and though I haven't done a lot of writing, I have done a bit and my characters feel less like strangers. :-)
